Thinking tig

I seem to remember reading somewhere,....

URGH!!  my dryer is on the fritz!  sometimes it will heat up and dry my clothes,..and other times it will just tumble them around blowing cold air on them.
Sent my husband out  to the laundry mat with a bag of quarters,..my 4yr old daughter(to keep an eye on him,  and report back) and specific heat settings.

I remember reading somewhere that there seems to be a rash of dryer malfunctions,....and it's spreading!!

On the plus side,..I did manage to purge upwards of 100lbs of parenting, scrapbooking, and cooking magazines!
The great house purge is on!
The builder will begin clearing the land soon!!  yea!

(no subject)

So I have the usual myriad of holiday catalogs across my kitchen counter and my husband and I are going through them picking out gifts for some of our more eclectic friends, (have everything, need nothing) He suddenly bursts out laughing and says,...I finally found the words to sum up your "unique" perspective on life.
Okay first off,.."sum up",....have I been de mystified so early in my life,.. time to change strategies (he's on to me)

and second,  "Unique"  I don't feel my perspective is unique,..I'm sure there are others who share my glass is half full (but no one realizes it) attitude.

So my curiosity peaked,..(and one cup of coffee short of the energy to object to the above) I concede,
    "Really honey, what's it say?"

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming,
                                      "WOW What a RIDE!"

Okay,..You win this round!

Seize the day,.. or at the very least the moment

Do you live your life, as if it may be your last?

Do you try something new, something that for you, may go a little outside your "comfort zone"?

Do you challenge yourself to go just a little bit farther, do a little bit more, be a little bit nicer?

Are your words/actions that which you will never have to look back upon and regret?

Don't wait until you are faced with something, that will force you to ponder these very questions.

Get up! Get out, and live!

Life is good.
Life is precious.
Life is NOT endless.

Prayers

I thought of you today, as I watched my children play, as I heard their laughter and excited chatter.
I thought of  how devastated you must be, how mere words cannot express the sorrow you must feel.
I thought of you today.
  and I said a prayer
that at some point, your wounds will heal, and it doesn't hurt as badly as it does now.

Spring,..Frozen frogs?

I know spring has got to be close. I heard the first "peep, peep, peep" from the frogs in the pond. It was only one, and boy is he going to be cold and lonely tomorrow when the SNOW HITS!!

MOOOoooo

Did anyone get the milk,...I meant to bring it home and then back in on Monday,..but I forgot.
I also forgot my salad dressing, my Redbull, and my own milk.
What are the odds they'll still be there on Monday?

Thanks for the laughter

TO the people who made me laugh in the past six months in spite of myself.

To the guy in the pickup truck who got in behind me on the highway, and then proceeded to tap his brakes and tailgate me in just such a rhythm that the filthy, grime covered Santa Claus strapped to his grill waved to me in a bizarre holiday greeting in my rear view mirror.

To the small child entombed in snow gear that waited her turn, managed the hike up the ladder in that gear, was cut by older children,. only to be fired down that slide so fast by a lack of friction, to be rocketed (harmlessly) a good five feet from the base of the slide, and land like an awkward barefoot water skier, and travel skidding for another foot and a half before plopping down on your bum giggling hysterically,.
(I have found myself giggling at odd times recalling this image)

To the frazzled dad of a couple kids at the doctors office who was instructed to get a urine sample from his little girl, and after much time behind closed doors managed to emerge with a look of profound accomplishment at having the skill to cajole a small child who insisted she didn’t have to go, into filling the cup.  As she emerged obediently out of the rest room following closely behind her father she began shouting with increasing urgency, DAAAD,….DAAAAADDDDYYYY,.., which immediately drew everyone’s attention to her and her waddling, as dad hurried over to pull her pants back up, tugging and yanking, her pants, (and her) upward in a marionette like dance, watching in amusement as the child flailed about like an odd sort of rag doll throughout the dressing process.
(Those of you that have small children know this hurried dance)

Public safety announcement

If you are going to encourage, instigate, and or participate in a snowball fight with a five and three year old it will behoove you to adhere to the following safety guidelines.

Snow for the snowballs should be collected from;
1) Where ever the dog has NOT been.
2) From a paved or grassy area.

If your driveway is NOT paved, careful guidance should be given to young children as follows:
1) Scoop up ONLY the snow (this is the white SOFT stuff) not the rocks in the driveway.
2) If adult supervision is NOT used for step one,
3) All children's snowballs should be launched from a minimum safe distance of 20 feet. (less if the child's age prevents them from actually reaching you with a fore mentioned rocks) (their aim WILL surprise you when rocks are involved)

Exiled,..

I have been exiled to the spare room upstairs, with the stomach bug that's been going around. I feel a little better, but now I have a fever.
I can hear everyone downstairs, laughing and having a good time. I will miss our annual drive around to see the christmas lights. Hey on the plus side,. I've had time to catch up on lots of movies.
Movies I've seen in the last 24hours:
Jingle All The Way <--cheesy, but I still cried
Christmas with the Krank's <--Ditto
Pride and Prejudice <---loved this one
Fun with Dick and Jane <--- entertaining
Underworld Evolution <--not as good as first but entertaining
Brokeback Mountain <---Long,..not as good as I thought it would be.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, (kept falling asleep through this one.)
After the Sunset <--pretty good, vaguely reminiscent of the 'Thomas Crowne Affair' (alright maybe not so vaguely)

Hopefully I will not miss Christmas morning, although I know I will still be under quarantine and will not be able to kiss and hug my little ones. I still remain positive that I will at least be able to sit in the corner of the room, and at least observe the festivities.
I'm glad I'm not doing the christmas dinner thing until later in the week, when Grampy comes down for a visit. I don't think I would survive that right now.
